An oasis of rustic elegance on one of New Zealand's purest rivers. From the front deck you can just about cast a fishing line into the mighty Mokihinui River. From each room, the jagged edge of the Glasgow Range silhouettes an untouched sky. Any direction you look, you're immersed in the native wilderness of the West Coast.
The main lodge epitomises rustic elegance, with massive red beech dining tables and handcrafted stone fireplace. Our five beautifully appointed guest rooms, each named after a local gold mine from the 1870s, feature sweeping views of the rainforest and Mt Glasgow from king or twin single beds both downstairs and in our unique bird's eye view lofts. Ideal for small groups, couples or families.
Our rates include all meals during your stay, from superb 'rustic gourmet' dinners to homecooked breakfasts (and picnic lunches for guests with us more than one night). Quality teas and locally roasted organic coffee are freely available. Onsite activities include playing in our kayaks and tubes in 'The Pool' (the flatwater area of the river outside the lodge), beautiful bushwalks on our private 100 acres of native bush, night time glow worm expeditions, and a secluded bush bath for two perched over the river.
For fishing parties, we're an ideal base for heli-fishing the superb wilderness waters above the Mokihinui Forks. Or spend a night with us on either end of your backcountry trip - comfort (and great food) to look forward to! We'll happily arrange experienced guides for you.
