You will discover amazing Waimangu Volcanic Valley, the youngest geothermal area in the world and home to world unique geothermal features, including the world's largest hot spring and the world's largest geyser-like feature. The protected forest covering Waimangu is New Zealand's only example of a native forest emerging from the complete devastation of a volcanic eruption.

Whirinaki Forest is 1,000 years old. In the 1960s it was saved from logging by dedicated New Zealand conservationists. Today, we celebrate their vision and tenacity as we stand in awe of the magnificent trees and crystal clear waters.
