Croeso i Hafod The Story of 'Hafod' 'Hafod House' in Wales inspired Maureen to create these tranquil gardens.
In October 1990 Maureen, as a marriage celebrant, asked a bride to plant a tree or shrub as a living remembrance of her wedding day. This started a walk called, in Welsh, "Ifordd Cariad (Sweethearts' Walk)".
Today the planting of a tree or shrub has been replaced by a plaque in the summer house.
Added to the two existing 125-yer-old chestnut trees has been a small water garden - 'Afton bach', a rose walk and a flax archway along with several Welsh-named plants.
A garden that changes with the seasons yet stays as a tranquil place to visit in a group, for a special occasion or just create for yourself a personal peaceful memory.
Nestled in the garden is Maureen's home, which has a touch of New Zealand history also. With the lovely exposed beamed historic octagonal room which has leadlight window that look out into the garden.
Host: Maureen H. C. Oliver Marriage Celebrant Member of Celebrants Association of New Zealand
