Situated on the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand, Collyer House offers luxury Bed & Breakfast accommodation in the remote and idyllic bush surroundings of Haast.
Set against a backdrop of ancient rainforest and mountains and faces west to capture the magnificent views of the Okuru River estuary and the Tasman Sea. Collyer House Bed & Breakfast offers four quality ensuite rooms, all with wonderful views and French doors to the veranda.
Each room is individually furnished with antiques and sumptuous quality linen. The beds all have electric blankets and feather duvets and pillows. In the ensuite you will find a high pressure shower over the bath, heated towel rail, thick cosy bathrobes, hairdryer and toiletries.
The spacious living area provides a huge fireplace made from local stone, a great place to relax and mingle with other guests or read about the unique history from the collection of books. Your host is the fourth generation of a pioneering family and carries on the tradition of great hospitality.
Guest facilities include wireless internet, SKY television, laundry facilities and tea & coffee making facilities. Evening meals are available at several establishments near State Highway 6 which is a ten minute drive.
The Haast area offers travellers the peace and quiet many only dream of. There are miles of deserted sea beach, numerous bush walks, abundance of birdlife and endless photography opportunities. Other activities include hunting, fishing, jetboat rides and scenic flights. All activities can be arranged by your host.
